تمت إعادة تصوره بالكامل في عام 2010 بواسطة المعمار الحائز على جوائز ستيفن هاريس، المعروف في قائمة AD100 لمجلة Architectural Digest، حيث يعكس هذا المنزل مزيجه المميز من الطابع التاريخي والوضوح المعاصر. جدران عائمة ذات جودة متحف، وسلم من الفولاذ والزجاج مُضاء من خلال نافذة سماء، ونوافذ كبيرة الحجم تخلق شعوراً شبيهاً باللوفت داخل واجهة مبنى تاريخي من الحجر البني، تم تجديده من اللمسة البحرية السابقة إلى الطوب والحجر الدافئ في تناغم مع المناظر الطبيعية المحيطة.

تعاون التصميم
صُمم بالتعاون مع Marti Sagar Interiors، interiors يتسم بالاستعادة، القابل للعيش، والرفع المعنوي. معروفة بأسلوبها المعاصر الذي لا يزول عبر الزمن، أنشأت ساغار مساكن في جميع أنحاء نيويورك ونيو إنجلاند وما وراءها، مع التركيز على الملاذات الوظيفية التي توحد الجمال والراحة وأسلوب الحياة الحديث.

طابع التخطيط
• الطابق الأول: مستوى ترفيهي دراماتيكي ذو أسقف عالية، موقد غاز، أرضيات من الخشب الصلب ذات الألواح العريضة، وجدار معرض كبير مثالي للفن على نطاق واسع. نوافذ تصل إلى السقف على كل من الجانبين الشرقي والغربي تشكل إطلالات على الحديقة المنسقة وكنيسة سانت تشارلز بوروميو النيو قوطية، مما يوفر الخصوصية والجمال المعماري.
• الطابق الأرضي: مركز طهوي مع مطبخ شيف كبير يضم موقد وولف بقدر ستة شعلات، وحدات تخزين ثلاجة من طراز ساب زيرو جنباً إلى جنب، صحون مزدوجة وحمامات، أسطح إعداد حجرية واسعة، ودواليب وفيرة. غرفة تناول الطعام الرسمية تطل على الحديقة.
• الطابق الثالث: مُعَدل حالياً كمكتبة ومكتب، ولكن يمكن بسهولة تحويله إلى جناح رئيسي ثانٍ.
• الطابق الرابع: جناح رئيسي هادئ مع نوافذ كبيرة، موقد يعمل بالغاز، وشرفة نوم محاطة بالشجيرات. الحمام الشبيه بالسبا يشمل حوض مزدوج، حوض استحمام، ودش مضاء عبر ثلاث نوافذ تواجه الشرق.
• الطابق العلوي: مضاء من خلال نافذة سماء مركزية، هذه المساحة المرنة مثالية لغرفة ضيوف، غرفة وسائط، استوديو للياقة البدنية، أو ملاذ إبداعي. سلم مخصص من الفولاذ والزجاج مع خطوات زجاجية عائمة يرتفع عبر المنزل، ناقلاً الضوء من نافذة السماء ومُشتتاً عبر جدار زجاجي مُزخرف، مما يخلق عموداً عمودياً مضيئاً يربط كل مستوى.
• الطابق السفلي: خدمات وتخزين مع دمج خفي.
• ميزات إضافية: نظام صوت متكامل، موقد غاز، ونظام تكييف هواء يعمل بالغاز موزع على مناطق مع غرف يتم التحكم فيها بشكل فردي.

الموقع ونمط الحياة
يقع 12 سيدني بليس ضمن المنطقة التاريخية لبروكلين هايتس، أول حي محمي بمعلم في مدينة نيويورك، تم تحديده في عام 1965. يشتهر الحي بمنازله المكونة من الطوب والحجر البني الجميل، والشوارع المظللة بالأشجار، وسحر القرن التاسع عشر، مقدمًا مزيجًا نادرًا من التراث المعماري والحياة الحضرية الحديثة. يعتبر سيدني بلايس من أكثر الشوارع المرموقة في الحي، مُقدرًا لخصوصيته وحدائقه وطابعه التاريخي. يبعد دقائق فقط عن ممشى بروكلين هايتس، وحديقة جسر بروكلين، ومركز وسائل النقل الرئيسية، مما يوفر للمنزل يسرا وسرية.

A Steven Harris-designed Townhouse in Historic Brooklyn Heights

ARCHITECTURAL PROVENANCE
Fully reimagined in 2010 by award-winning architect Steven Harris, celebrated in Architectural Digest’s AD100, this townhouse reflects his signature blend of historic character and contemporary clarity. Museum-quality floating walls, a custom steel-and-glass staircase illuminated by a skylight, and oversized windows create a loft-like sensibility within a historic brownstone façade, restored from its former navy finish to warm brick and stone in harmony with the landmark streetscape.

DESIGN COLLABORATION
Designed in collaboration with Marti Sagar Interiors, the interiors are restorative, livable, and uplifting. Known for her contemporary yet timeless style, Sagar has created residences across New York, New England, and beyond, with a focus on functional sanctuaries that balance beauty, comfort, and modern lifestyle.

LAYOUT CHARACTER
• Parlor Floor: A dramatic entertaining level with soaring ceilings, a gas fireplace, wide-plank hardwood floors, and an oversized gallery wall ideal for large-scale art. Floor-to-ceiling windows on both east and west exposures frame views of the landscaped garden and the Neo-Gothic St. Charles Borromeo Church, offering both privacy and architectural beauty.
• Garden Floor: A culinary centerpiece with an oversized chef’s kitchen featuring a six-burner Wolf range, side-by-side Sub-Zero refrigeration, dual dishwashers and sinks, expansive stone prep surfaces, and abundant cabinetry. A formal dining room overlooks the garden.
• Third Floor: Currently configured as a library and office, but easily converted into a second primary suite.
• Fourth Floor: A tranquil primary suite with oversized windows, a gas-burning fireplace, and a rare screened sleeping porch enveloped in greenery. The spa-like bath includes a double vanity, soaking tub, and shower illuminated by three east-facing windows.
• Top Floor: Illuminated by a central skylight, this flexible space is ideal for a guest room, media room, fitness studio, or creative retreat. A custom steel-and-glass staircase with floating glass treads rises through the home, channeling light from the skylight and diffused by a fluted glass wall, creating a luminous vertical spine that connects every level.
• Basement: Utility and storage with discreet integration.
• Additional Features: Integrated sound system, gas fireplace, and zoned gas-fired HVAC with individually controlled rooms.
